Reverse   Immigration

This blog, REVERSE IMMIGRATION, is wordy. Apparently, the blogger is not a fan of his country's famous writer, Ernest Hemingway. In different hands, what the blogger wants to say in this blog could be said in one-half or even a third of the bandwidth he is using. It would save the readers some time and make this blog less dense to go through.

The blogger, Mr. McLaughlin, a new arrival from the US, is working as a sort of student recruiter for some American universities. In some of his entries, he went into great detail to point out the differences between Hong Kong and the US cities he once lived in. And as his entries indicate, he is not having an easy time adjusting to his new home; he is having a bit of culture-shock. In an iconic American movie, Wizard of Oz, the main character observes: "we're not in Kansas anymore... ". This American blogger is now in Hong Kong. The adjustment to a foreign country and unfamiliar culture would go smoother for him if he could stop "comparing apples with oranges", be more accepting, look on the bright side, and take the changes as a new adventure.

Mr. McLaughlin is a sensitive soul; he is introspective. His story, while not uncommon, is informative to those who are interested in finding out what it's like living in HK from an "immigrant's" perspective. The blogger tends to generalize --- painting people with broad strokes --- dwell on the negatives, and at times, his unbridled emotions cloud his judgment. But unlike many others the reviewer has read, this blog stands out, the blogger tells his experience from a very personal level with sincerity and deep emotions.

Hong Kong Blogs Review recommends this HK blog with reservations. REVERSE IMMIGRATION may be too negative, dim, gloomy, and unpleasant for some prospective readers.
