This blog was sent to Sham-Shui-Po Boy with a short note that had no explanation, he'd presume the blogger would like to see him review her blog here on Hong Kong Blogs Review. Here he shall oblige:
This blogger is a local girl/woman(self-proclaimed), but by the way she writes and the things she writes about, Sham-Shui-Po Boy dares to venture a guess that she has spent a significant part of her life in the US. Her English is unmistakeably American; her thinking as indicated by her entries is very much Western. It is not to infer she doesn't have a Chinese side. But when push comes to shove, there is little doubt which side she is on.
In a couple of her entries, she wrote casually about HK politics, the possibility of having universal suffrage in the future, and her participation in an annual march for democracy. For someone who claims to be a book lover, some of her choices of words are surprisingly tacky in her writing if not vulgar; it's hard to take her seriously. And she doesn't capitalize letters that should be capitalized; when you're in Hong Kong, for most people, perception and image are important, perhaps, this is her way to show she's hip and trendy.
Sham-Shui-Po Boy says, this blogger is likable and you may find her to be charmingly fun-loving and intriguing. Or she's someone you could relate to or connect with in the same "language", capitalizing or not --- that is if you're the right type and the right colour.
